Despite a demanding schedule, interior designer Marga Comas takes time to share insights into her recent projects, speaking with a clarity and passion that define her work. Her portfolio spans elegant private residences across Mallorca, as well as the transformation of the Mallorcair private handling headquarters into a luxurious yet welcoming environment. For Comas, this is the essence of her work: turning properties into true homes. It’s also how she defines luxury. “For me, luxury is comfort. It’s feeling at ease and needing nothing more…” She resists offering a single formula or fixed style, emphasising instead that every project is tailored to the client. Still, there is one constant in her work: light. “It’s light that embraces you the most,” she says. Indeed, the play of light is central to her timeless interiors.
Reviving a family home
A testament to her talent for transforming a property into something truly exceptional is her work on a family home renovation in Palma, known as GSB. “Initially the owners only wanted to paint the house and change a few things,” she recalls with a smile, “but little by little they grew braver, until we ended up doing a full renovation.” The result is a residence that balances elegance with warmth, defined by calming, rounded lines and the natural rhythm of stone and wood. A spectacular fireplace with a rustic stone base anchors the main living space, its presence softened by chestnut beams and the gentle light of sculptural lamp shades. Tall oak doors and brass inlays add subtle sophistication, while a cinema room and spacious porch reflect the importance of comfort and family life. “Some properties really need the Mallorcan touch,” she says, referencing the wood beams and stone-clad walls, “and others don’t.”
A shared vision
Equally striking is CNS, a newly built house in Santa Ponsa, designed by Vidal Piñeiro Arquitectos, where Comas oversaw the interiors from the ground up. Natural stone floors, warm wood finishes, and carefully layered lighting define interiors that feel both sophisticated and welcoming. Spaces were designed not only for entertaining but also for privacy: a wine cellar with sea views, a gym complete with sauna and soft green light reflected from the pool, and versatile outdoor lounges, including one with a gas fireplace for cooler evenings. With five bedrooms and multiple terraces, the villa balances scale with intimacy, showcasing Comas’s ability to create a home that is as functional for everyday living as it is spectacular for gatherings.
For Marga Comas, designing begins with clarity and joy. “I love the first stage, working with architects,” she says. Her philosophy is simple: happiness fuels creativity. Every home she touches reflects that spirit. It’s unique, unrepeatable, and crafted with conscious care, like a work of art.
