When you give a property a colourful name like ‘Villa Gecko’, it needs to have something a little different about it. And this distinctive and characterful home certainly does not disappoint.
Located on one of the most popular streets in Nova Santa Ponsa – an upscale neighbourhood a stone’s throw from the swish Port Adriano marina – Villa Gecko is certainly in good company. The luxury villa was completed in 2017, project managed by Santa Ponsa – based real estate specialists APM. They were keen to infuse the home with plenty of Mallorcan charm, and the design combines the best of traditional finca-style elements with eye-catching contemporary style.
A roll call of world-class brands
Its exterior facade of typical Mallorcan stone continues indoors for parts of the property, producing a pleasing contrast with the modern Mediterranean scheme characterising much of the interior design. Furnishings and fittings are a veritable roll call of world-class brands, from seating by the likes of Minotti, Vitra and limited edition tables by Meridiani and Paola Lenti – all expertly curated by interior design studio Terraza Balear.
Double height ceilings on the ground floor allow for a gallery feature above the main living area, while an open-plan designer kitchen is beautifully kitted out by Cocina y Vida Birgit Müller. Outside of the main house are two large terraces extending from either side of the building with a 12-metre-long swimming pool to the rear, together with a gym/spa area to one side and a summer kitchen on the other. A guest apartment is also located outside of the main house with views over the pool and the pretty landscaped gardens. “To me Gecko is a true all-rounder,” says Christine Heider from APM, “It is elegant, stylish, modern, practical, Mediterranean and – the most important thing – every little corner maintains a charming cosiness, an absolute essential of a dream home.“
