Contemporary designer Santa Ponsa villa

Opting for natural materials resulted in a soft and earthy feel to this luxury villa

Contemporary Villa Santa Ponsa EHDThere are few companies on Mallorca with such a renowned reputation in the world of high-end interior design than Espacio Home Design. So it’s no surprise that the developer behind this prestigious property looked to the Palma-based family business to collaborate with in order to transform the Santa Ponsa ‘Villa CSI’ into something genuinely outstanding.

Design for the villa itself came from the architect studio of Calvià-based Tarragona Höhne Architects, who are well regarded for creating some of the finest modern architecture on the island. And to complement their clean minimalist design, Espacio chose to take a similarly bright and contemporary approach – though with a softer and breezier slant.

Understated Italian design

The main focus was on the beautiful open-plan living and dining room. For the lounge area, much of the pieces were chosen from the Italian designer brand Molteni&C, including the sand-toned sofa and glass coffee tables, which bring both elegance and modernity to the space. A handsome Riva1920 dining table is also accompanied by a set of chairs from Molteni&C’s Chelsea collection, illuminated from above by a touch of glitz in the form of Luceplan Compendium Circle lighting

Furniture and shelves were also lacquered with natural tones to perfectly integrate with the interior’s soft neutral scheme, which extends to the bedrooms for a calming Mediterranean atmosphere. For the master bedroom’s dressing room, Espacio personalised the space according to the wishes of the client using a backlit darkwood sideboard to create a more romantic, atmospheric mood. Finally, for the outdoor area of this luxury home, the Espacio team chose a set from the Italian Varaschin brand, echoing the wooden tabletop of the inside dining space, with relaxing chairs from which to enjoy the lovely views over Santa Ponsa bay. Opting for natural materials and neutral colours resulted in a softer and more earthy feel to the cool, clean-lined architecture – and a home that is both an inviting living space and a super-smart piece of modern design.
