Local stone – masonry

Drawing heavily from traditional Mallorcan materials, this comprehensive refurbishment by the Portals Nous-based Arquitectura 81, has immaculately preserved the rustic charm of this two-bedroom property. Outside the Esporles home, natural stone walls are complemented by light olive green shutters, and the rear steps lead down from the terrace to the bush-hammered edged Egyptian slab pool and sunny chill-out area. From here you’re treated to some stunning views of the Tramuntana Sierra. Sleek, minimal and immaculately finished interiors give an air of tranquil sophistication, with Binissalem stone floors and whitewashed walls paired with the warmth of wooden beams throughout. The rough-hewn stone hearth in the living room and exposed stone wall nook in the bedroom nod to the property’s rustic origins and add texture and timeless character to the clean simplicity of the walls and floors.

Charming rustic details

The attention to detail in small country-style touches, like the stone washbasin and shelf in the guest bathroom, add even more historic charm. Artisan clay wall lamps by Pere Coll Portol provide simple, elegant lighting, while the occasional aged-brass lamp by Contain Mallorca provide a colourful contrast.
