Renewable luxury in Palma

Intense integration by OIB Architecture

OIB Architecture’s masterful use of a green roof on Villa Cansbert is symbolic of the company’s ethos. A verdant, visual reminder of the desire to integrate into the Mediterranean surroundings, the roof design is not only attractive but highly functional. A layered combination of vegetation and membrane, the eye-pleasing design feature both insulates and provides water management.

Boosting Biodiversity

In the same sustainable vein, the landscaping surrounding the spectacular contemporary home was carefully planned to preserve and enhance local biodiversity, creating a microclimate that benefits both occupants and the environment.

“Developing this project offered me the opportunity to explore the symbiosis between modern architecture and the surrounding natural environment” says Joan Ignaci Bibiloni, adding that the possibility of creating a space that not only met the daily needs of its residents, but also celebrated harmony with nature, was a constant source of inspiration and excitement.

“Every detail was conceived with the intention of elevating the everyday experience through careful and respectful integration with the landscape.”

A renewable retreat

Healthy living best sums up the architects’ goal for the property. Through meticulous planning and precise execution, they succeeded in building a private oasis that connects its inhabitants to the limitless skyline and glorious setting. The planners prioritised large, flexible spaces that adapt to diverse needs and lifestyles, optimising natural light and incorporating silent, efficient and renewable cooling and heating systems.

For Joan Ignaci, the biggest challenge was, “Without a doubt, finding the perfect balance between innovation and functionality. Implementing advanced and sustainable technologies, without compromising aesthetics or practicality of the design.”

In the end, the dramatic final result not only met, but went far beyond initial hopes. Giving the impression of suspension above the main house, the elevated pool and sophisticated deck not only maximises the use of space but offers an unparalleled vista across Palma, creating a unique experience of stillness and luxury.
