Lucie Hauri mainly lives off illusions. For more than 30 years, the German-Swiss has been fulfilling the real estate dreams of her international clientele. Her business hotspots include the romantic southeast of Mallorca and, mainly, around its secret capital SantanyĆ. Here, Lucie recently opened a business centre – so far, unique on the island – called āEast 26ā.
Located in an extensively reformed manor house, it features the main office of Hauriās own real estate agency, including the associated project management, a shop for exclusive furniture and living accessories, an art photo gallery, and a company specializing in interior design. In addition, there is a chic restaurant in the large and light-flooded courtyard of the property, including a cocktail bar and a garden for events.
Lucie Hauri had the undoubtedly extraordinary idea of developing a creative meeting centre, themed on real estate, in the heart of SantanyĆ a few years ago. At that time, āEast 26ā was not much more than a huge property for sale and in desperate need of renovation. āAfter the fourth or fifth visit of potential buyers, I had the idea to set up my own project here,ā Lucie recalls. Together with her colleague John Peeters, who specializes in project management, the basic concept for āEast 26ā was developed. Under the umbrella of the project, various companies were to offer their services in real estate, decoration and design. During the four-year gutting of the building and subsequent restoration, Lucie already started to find potential partners for āEast 26ā. āThis was not an easy task – after all, the approach was to offer something to our future visitors, which corresponded to our own high-quality requirements.ā
Like Melanie and āPeppoā Mayer for example. The two experienced Viennese restaurateurs – who are known not only to many Austrian holidaymakers or island residents from the popular āMayereiā ā have been running the āEast 26ā restaurant since the middle of April. āWe want to offer our guests a charming crossover of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine,ā says āPeppoā Mayer. Both he and his wife find Mallorca to be a whole new gastronomic challenge. Their eatery is intended to become a meeting point for everyone in SantanyĆ, particularly for locals. Accordingly, you can have breakfast in the restaurant, tapas are offered all day, and thereās a daily changing lunch menu, as well as coffee and cake served in the afternoon. In a garden behind the inner courtyard, the Mayers also organize company or private events on request.
āEast 26ā is also a new territory (workwise) for the Swiss couple Sibylle and Pascal Schaller, who are the managing directors of their Mallorca branch of the internationally active interior architecture office āIria Degen Interieursā. In addition to designing interiors and exteriors āwith a feel-good atmosphereā, they also want to support future property owners on the island with the planning and individual advice of their projects – from the first draft to the handover of keys. The companyās portfolio also includes home accessories from the international designer label ātheroomers.comā.
A large and frequently changing selection of indoor and outdoor furniture and matching home accessories can be found at āKoyoā, which is another integral part of āEast 26ā. In addition to collections of the French design label āRiviĆØre Maisonā, the furniture store ā run by the two Germans Carola and Jƶrg Brinkmƶller ā also includes products from renowned German kitchen manufacturers. However, the shop is just the tip of Brinkmƶllerās business undertakings. āWe would like to ā as a partner ā accompany house and apartment owners in Mallorca who aim for a new interior or exterior design. Thanks to a network developed over many years, we can also take on more complex projects, āassures Jƶrg Brinkmƶller.
Last but not least, with Vanessa Jasmin PannĆ©, a professional photo artist is one of the partners of āEast 26ā. In her showroom you will find an impressive collection of still life and landscape images from the German designer and photographer, partly produced on the island. āI have a great passion for interior design, and I know how difficult it is for many people to furnish their homes according to their style,ā says PannĆ©. Also for this reason, all of her high-quality prints can be customized in different formats and materials. In the photo art gallery āVJPā there are also a lot of other interesting furnishing ideas.
Meanwhile, Luci Haurie is looking out of the big windows of her new office headquarters on the upper floor with great optimism. āIn the future, East 26 will certainly not only be one of the first addresses for property owners in the southeast of Mallorca. Here you can also just be inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle and let your mind go, while enjoying a meal in the restaurant, a cocktail at the bar, or a coffee on the patio.ā
