Atypical, discreet Bendinat villa

When asked which part of this sublime new villa is her favourite, architect Inés Rodríguez doesn’t hesitate. It is, without a doubt, the spa. Being able to move into the hot, humid jungle just by opening a door is “magical,” she says, adding that: “Immersing yourself in the hot springs surrounded by lush vegetation while listening to the soft murmur of the waterfalls is a captivating sensory experience.”

SENSORY CELEBRATION

The private spa exists within a property geared towards wellbeing. “This home is an ode to enjoyment,” asserts Rodríguez. Also equipped with a wine cellar and cinema room, the aim is for each space to be experienced with maximum pleasure. Taking a tour through the different rooms in this sleek Bendinat build, featuring two floors and a basement, is an indulgent treat for the senses.

From the street, the elegant minimalist property is secreted away behind a discreet façade. To the rear, a large turquoise pool runs longitudinally along the exterior terrace, dominating the space. Multiple terraces crossing the house on different levels let in abundant light and a vertical garden injects further greenery into the heart of the home, a deluxe fusion of noble materials such as refined wooden flooring, carpentry, and natural quartzite in the bathrooms.

CHANGING CALVIÀ REGULATIONS

A great deal of trust was placed in the Arquitectura 81 team by the client – the type of creative freedom Rodríguez finds most rewarding. When they were in the middle of work, the new Detailed Planning Plan for Calvià was approved; the studio overcoming the challenge of successfully readapting the project with an agile, flexible mindset. And as with every project the team undertakes, they strived to make this one as green as possible.

“Sustainable design is not just a passing trend, but an urgent need,” says the Arquitectura 81 director.
