In Establiments, a serene corner of Mallorca near Palma, Sat Chit Ananda – Sanskrit for truth, consciousness, bliss – was awarded winner of the Global Architecture & Design Award 2024. Conceived by Christine Leja of Bconnected, the home is both personal manifesto and showcase, brought to life with the help of her expert team. Modern architecture lets the light and peace of the surrounding environment flood in while interiors pulse with bold colour, art, and tactile comfort. “Anything that was ‘good’ but not ‘great’ had to go,” says the passionate designer, who thrived on the freedom to channel her eclecticism and creative energy into this countryside retreat.
A bold cosmopolitan spirit
In a Mallorcan landscape where interiors often lean toward gentle neutrals and organic tones, Sat Chit Ananda offers a striking counterpoint. Christine Leja and her Bconnected team infused the villa with vibrant colours, luxurious texture, and an energy that celebrates joy as much as sophistication. Large-scale artworks animate the white walls, while superior sofas and handmade rugs invite comfort without compromise on style. Every piece was chosen for impact: Kartell, Eichholtz, Pols Potten, HK Living, Kettal, and Gervasoni sit alongside hand-picked accessories, reflecting a cosmopolitan aesthetic rooted in everyday living.
The outdoor spaces are equally expressive. A pair of vivid red Kettal daybeds sets the tone beside the pool, complemented by Fatboy poufs and lanterns. HK Living’s retro-inspired umbrellas in pink and yellow evoke playful 1970s charm, while Lobster Day loungers upholstered in signature fabrics anchor the terrace with effortless style. These choices show a fearless, creative spirit which brings the home to life.
Pushing boundaries
Sat Chit Ananda’s mesmerising allure is in its individuality, which is the consequence of listening deeply, pushing boundaries, and tailoring every decision to the dwellers of the home. Guests have also been thought of. An adjacent guest house offers visitors privacy while remaining part of the home’s wider flow. “It’s about allowing people to gather in harmony, while each can also find their own space,” Christine explains.
The project stands as proof of Bconnected’s ability to translate vision into reality: no template, no repetition, just a singular home designed for the people who inhabit it. By insisting that only what was truly exceptional remained, Christine and her team created a sanctuary which feels both cosmopolitan and profoundly rooted in Mallorca. Bold, personal, and impossible to replicate, Sat Chit Ananda is a reminder of what design can achieve when it’s guided by intuition and authenticity.
