The family-run furniture business Mobles Riera handcrafted their first chair in 1932 as a modest artisan workshop in Manacor. And since then, they have certainly come a long way. While still based in the same town, three generations of the Riera family have grown the company into an innovative, forward-facing furniture business to rival any on Mallorca.
While their 2,000-square-metre showroom dedicated to quality design is impressive, its their projects that really showcase their flawless eye for high-end furnishing. And few properties provide a better canvas than this luxury villa set in the hills overlooking the island’s west coast.

The chic 21st-century design of the property has been skilfully matched with pieces that pair to perfection. A wraparound window lounge features a low-profile Mauro sofa by J&D design, upholstered with Jacquard silk and cotton fabric. Accompanying are two sumptuous velvet swivel chairs by Désirée. Bronzed metal side tables sit atop a large circular bamboo-fibre rug.
A polished teak table is surrounded by nubuck chairs in the dining area, with illumination provided by Carlo Colombo ‘Glo’ lighting. Up on the panoramic rooftop terrace, Libero outdoor sofas with Sunbrella upholstery provide the perfect seating to soak up the views. Workshop stone tables and a Rope for Ligne Roset tie it together with aplomb.
Into the bedrooms, and Sidney beds by David Casadesús bring a sense of lightness and calm with a design that seems to float above the floor. They’re topped with Italian bedding from Molteni, with ‘taupe lucido’ night tables and Penta Light hanging lamps.
Despite the numerous brands used in this furnishing project, they always compliment each other and interact seamlessly, even further elevating the living space of the stunning property. It’s evidence that, after almost 90 years in the business, Mobles Riera are still very much at the top of their game.
