This autumn, Alex Jolig will get to work in his Palma studio gallery, a place to showcase his own expressive art, as well as that of selected contemporaries.
AlexArt has been a valuable new addition to the city’s creative scene since its opening in 2020. Born in Stuttgart, Alex Jolig’s love of art blossomed early, surviving and thriving despite external pressure to pursue a more conventional path. “I lived my passion in secret – but remained true to it, despite all opposition,” he confides, adding that painting is not only liberating but has given him strength and perspective in challenging times.
PERSONAL HEALING, OUTWARD SUCCESS
Since finding demand from worldwide collectors in the 90s, Alex Jolig’s art has evolved in harmony with his life experiences. Impactful, emotionally sensitive yet strong, his abstract impressions in large format acrylic, oil with texture on canvas and multi-part series, intriguing objects and photo art demonstrate a commitment to quality workmanship. No wonder, then, that Alex Jolig has been receiving interest from galleries in NYC. His mode of authentic expression seems to chime with the bold Big Apple, and in return, the city helps reinvigorate the German artist. “New York was very inspiring as always.”
The ultimate plan, fueled by the dynamism of an art scene both here and in other global hot spots, is to help foster a cool creative space in Palma’s beautiful Old Town. Social events, exhibitions, personal meetings with the artist and just all-round uplifting, imaginative vibes await. “My vision is a kind of melting pot for clients, art lovers and creatives,” says Alex Jolig, who already runs a successful real estate business, Equus Mallorca with his director-partner. That conventional business streak, an ability to get things done instilled in him early in his career, has, ironically, come in extremely useful for making those creative dreams a reality. Watch this space.
