When the owners of a historic Palma apartment contacted Organic Studio, interior designer and director Andrea Pussin knew that her job was to enhance the elegant renovation carried out by Ohlab. “You have to be humble and not get carried away by the desire to change everything,” she explains. “You have to let the space, materials and shapes speak…” With a sensitivity and attention to detail that characterises the design firm, Andrea and her team magnified the beauty of the property with artful lighting, rich textiles, wood flooring and Balearic craftmanship.
Neutral palette and perfect flow
ORGANIC STUDIO, as the name suggests, understands the advantages of using a natural palette. In this sophisticated apartment, the neutral tones amplify the sense of space and connect the different rooms. The wood flooring and carefully selected wood furniture perfectly combine to ensure a fluidity throughout. Rounded, organic shapes soften the angles of the meeting walls and white ceiling beams. Different sources and grades of light is key to creating alternative atmospheres and ORGANIC STUDIO have worked with natural light and spotlights to create a home which is harmonious and also functional. Practicality, after all, is a given in a home designed by Andrea Pussin and this is evident in the children’s bedrooms. “We’ve used contemporary bed structures that, with just a change in wallpaper and textiles, could become a perfect room for a teenager,” Andrea says. Practical yet also creative. “The little ones at home are always the stars of our design,” she adds, describing her joy at creating spaces for play and imagination.
Creative design and original artwork
Andrea Pussin resists defining her style and there are no two ORGANIC STUDIO projects alike. Instead, this well-respected interior designer prefers to be known for her ability to adapt her skills to the client and the needs of the property. Her talent is for translating her client’s vision and bringing it to life. Subtle decorative pieces and original artwork transmit the personality of the homeowners. While contemporary artists bring new life to the historic walls and concrete coffee tables add a modern minimalist twist, the cane is a nod to enduring Balearic craftsmanship. The great achievement of this home is that, in spite of the countless creative decisions made with regards to material and lighting, the resulting feeling is of effortless elegance.
