In trendy Santa Catalina, a once-vacant apartment has been reimagined into a serene retreat, where modern design meets understated luxury. The transformation is a masterclass in balancing old and new elements, from original elements to sleek, industrial finishes. The result? A sophisticated and timeless renovation that feels both rooted in Mediterranean heritage and undeniably contemporary. This blend of aesthetics, created by the Jaime Salvá Architecture & Interior Design team, speaks to a broader trend shaping luxury living on the island that’s drawing in both locals and international tastemakers alike. The design of Leach Home captures the essence of Mediterranean life—light, natural materials, and a connection to the surroundings—while offering all the comforts of modern living.
Making the most out of a blank canvas
Take one step into this home and it’s colours and textures will relax the mind and body. Each room flows into the next, as natural finishes and clean lines soothe the eyes from the bustling outside world. The premise of this exciting project was to create a functional space with special sensitivity to design, working closely with interior designer Ondrej Zdercik to blend chic and industrial styles. Once an empty shell, the apartment now spans 120 square meters, thoughtfully divided into two distinct zones: a vibrant daytime area and a space to relax at night.
The open-concept living room, dining area, and kitchen create an inviting atmosphere for hosting tranquil social gatherings. The kitchen island, made from the same exquisite gray zarzi limestone that flows into the flooring, enhances the cohesive aesthetic. The master bedroom features an en-suite bathroom that connects to a spacious walk-in closet, while high ceilings allow for a cleverly designed loft space for additional storage. Every detail was thoughtfully selected to maintain the flow of the light and air in the space.
Selecting materials for aesthetic harmony
Materials play a vital role in the aesthetic appeal of Leach Home. The oak parquet flooring is laid in a classic herringbone pattern, adding warmth and texture to the spaces. Herringbone oak wood is used in the bedroom areas, contrasting ever so slightly where it meets the light-coloured zarzi limestone. White panel moldings and stylish bottle green walls bring a touch of modern sophistication.
To highlight the industrial elements, brushed copper fixtures and faucets are featured throughout, alongside matte black metal accents like the fireplaces. The carefully curated furniture, selected by the owners, showcases natural materials such as wood and wicker, ensuring that it complements the surrounding architecture without overshadowing it. This harmonious blend of classic elegance and industrial chic makes Leach Home a truly calming space.
