The mystery and emotional intensity of historic Parisian soirées inspired the intriguing new venture by Danish couple Lucinda and Mikkel Herforth – both creative executives for more than thirty years. Through their concept, Club Soirée, they create highly curated artistic gatherings which are intimate, unexpected and utterly unique.
“Our ambition is to break down the distance between artist and audience,” they explain. “Performances unfold up close, allowing guests to truly feel the artist’s presence.” World-class talent – from musicians and dancers to poets – captivate intimate audiences with spellbinding performances. “I’ve experienced art my whole life,” says Lucinda, whose father is a renowned actor and theatre director and whose mother, a former principal dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet, adds: “But when it happens this close to you, it’s completely different.”
The idea began with a challenge: what do you give a man who has everything? Searching for a birthday gift for a wealthy friend, the couple realised that while they might not compete with extravagant presents, they did have something else – a remarkable network from their combined careers in media and television. They arranged a dinner at home, but with unexpected guests.
A poet arrived and sat at the table reading from his notebook. Later, an internationally known opera singer appeared with her daughter, a violinist, performing just a metre away. Finally, a celebrated Danish actress read a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale. “It stayed with all of us afterwards,” Mikkel recalls. “It was something you simply couldn’t buy.”
Today, Club Soirée follows the rhythm of that first gathering. Each private evening, tailored to the individual client, brings together two or three carefully selected artists performing short acts, often accompanied by a host or storyteller and gastronomy. “In a time that often feels fast, filtered and fragmented,” they say, “our ambition is simple: to bring people together in a more inspiring and meaningful way, and create moments that resonate.”
