About in Alcova
If you’re reforming your home in Mallorca, there’s nothing more important than making your interior feel like yours. Interior designers Anna Yancheva and Wiktoria Ginter from in alcova are part of a new, more holistic approach to redesigning homes. With their motto ‘design through kindness’ at the centre of their work, the designers ensure that emotional comfort and breathable spaces are prioritised above all else – meaning that you can feel comfortably at home.
Having met and formed a strong friendship abroad, the two women bring a unique set of standards to the interior scene in Mallorca. Anna is Bulgarian and Wiktoria is Polish. Two nationalities, which when combined with their experiences in Milan and Copenhagen (with their current base in the Mediterranean) results in an impressive mix of design influences. “We’re about creating nurturing spaces,” says Wiktoria, who is also a trained yoga teacher. “Designing homes that reflect our clients’ routines and how they live their lives is a big part of we do,” Anna adds. Both of them draw from their own experiences to do this, but know the careful balance between their own suggestions while adhering to the needs of the client. “We work together with our clients to create something really special,” says Anna, who with Wiktoria, offers their services in six languages, including English, French, Polish, Bulgarian and Italian.
By looking at in alcova’s portfolio, it is clear from the offset that their work is influenced by a minimalist yet cosy and comfortable motif. Their projects draw from a natural colour palette and include rustic materials like wood, stone and ceramics. They are passionate about working with local artisans to inform their work and above all, designing sustainably and consciously. Each aspect of their work is considered for the emotion it conveys rather than for its aesthetic quality. Almost as if the design could talk to the people inhabiting it. Anna and Wiktoria show the full power of this effect through a full 3D render of their ideas, which is delivered to the client in a neat and well-considered presentation.
