Designed for a Swiss client, the home reflects the cosmopolitan couple’s talent for blending sophisticated modern design with the original creations of local artisans. Elegant, light-filled, and functional, the space combines natural textures with unique details. A Mediterranean spirit
“Our client asked for a contemporary home with a Mediterranean spirit and local artisans,” explain husband-and-wife team, Diana Huete and Patrick Wünsche of Bondian Living. The challenge was to create something modern yet rooted in authenticity. “We opted for a careful mix of local and international materials. Mallorcan stone, the protagonist in walls and details, coexists with contemporary hydraulic floors and an imposing white marble kitchen island.”
From the outset, the apartment was conceived as a cohesive whole, with each room carrying its own personality while contributing to a unified design language. Light plays a central role: glass and iron doors link the interiors, allowing daylight to flow through the spaces and enhancing textures with a warm, welcoming glow.
Harmony in contrasts
The kitchen is a study in contrasts. Sleek wood cabinetry sits alongside patterned hydraulic tiles, while the dramatic marble island becomes both sculpture and workspace. Bathrooms are imagined as serene Mediterranean sanctuaries, featuring turquoise and earthy tiles, natural motif wallpapers, and stone washbasins.
Textiles provide another layer of harmony. Bespoke upholstery, cushions, and curtains bring softness and comfort, while hand-painted botanical and animal wallpapers bring subtle colour and add character to passageways and bedrooms. Every detail is carefully calibrated, ensuring the apartment feels distinctive yet consistent throughout. “It has the ‘Bondian Touch’,” says Patrick, describing the couple’s signature ability to blend local tradition with global influence, and to balance classical ideas with contemporary elegance. Unsurprisingly, their dual heritage, German and Spanish, infuses their work with a global outlook, enriched by Mediterranean soul.
This philosophy extends to Bondian Living’s showroom in Palma’s Old Town. Located in a historic mansion just steps from the Cathedral, the 400-square-meter space showcases curated furniture and Mediterranean-style accessories, offering visitors a tangible experience of the studio’s unique vision.
