You’d never have known it, but the ground floor of Sant Jordi 61 was once an apricot packing factory.
“The fact that this is a property with so much history was really exciting to us,” says Miquel Bauza of LF91, describing how he and his team went above and beyond to preserve the existing features of the noble Pollensa townhouse. The outcome is a serene four-bedroom sanctuary, showcasing pure white lines fused with original architectural soul.
Sant Jordi 61 has been impeccably rehabilitated and reimagined. An understated, elegant entranceway warmly invites you into explore the refined interior space, comprising a total of 634.57 square metres. One special, unique touch on the ground level gives away the great attention to detail: the old floor fastening system using braces, painstakingly restored.
Staircase to heaven
A wide, polished stone staircase leads to the first floor, consisting of 4 bedrooms with 3 ensuite bathrooms and one guest bathroom as well as a cinema room and a gym. Ascend higher and you reach the most remarkable aspect of the house: a former attic, artfully converted into a heavenly living, kitchen and dining space, with its statement ceiling and large window affording bird’s-eye town views.
The large terrace and summer dining room with beautiful exposed stone wall have been designed so that residents can enjoy incredible views of both the town of Pollensa and its church, and the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana. The pool, with deep blue tiles, transports you directly to the Mediterranean Sea.
Shaping up
The harmonious effect of the finished product may appear effortless, but a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into the process.
“It was quite a challenge to remake the roof, adapting and trying to preserve the shape of the building so that the house did not lose its essence,” recalls the architect.
