Love it or hate it – what Gallery Red doesn’t want to do is leave you feeling indifferent. Officially launched in late 2017 this gallery is anything but traditional. The space was designed to be a luxury lounge buying experience with an international presence. Located in the heart of Palma a stone’s throw from the Paseo Del Borne in the old town, you’ll slow down when you spot it. Drawn towards the bold window displays, you’ll discover its glass front makes no secrets of the unique luxuries within.
Cool vintage furniture, iconic contemporary art and the most coveted designer handbags are the main attraction. Against the white canvas of the gallery walls, the vibrant juxtaposition of colours, textures and eras injects the atmosphere with great energy.
“We focus on pieces with wow-factor, which are made up of a fun mix of the most in-vogue artists from the last century and new emerging artists that are the next likely to make it big,” explains founder, Drew Aaron. With an abundant inventory of great “talking pieces” for your home being rotated constantly, meaning one visit to Gallery Red will likely lead to an on-going occurrence.
Aaron was named one of the Top 50 under 50s Art Collectors in the World and Gallery Red is the result of his great passion as well as a sound business mind. He’s the Chairman of Lionsgate Capital, the leading mortgage finance company in Mallorca and Ibiza, as well as a savvy collector of art, design and real estate. Original works by Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Damien Hirst hang alongside the likes of Banksy and a few exclusively represented Spanish artists in the Balearics including Santiago Picatoste. Designs by Eero Saarinen, George Nelson, Arne Jacobsen, and Gio Ponti, are flanked by influencers of the next generation.
Their store Rouge is solely dedicated to carefully selected vintage designer bags and accessories by Hermès, Chanel, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Gucci. While their concept store and art gallery offers a collection of unique paintings, sculptures as well as some key furniture pieces. A special relationship with the best private collectors in the world is how these exceptional pieces find their way to Palma. Outside on the stylish terrace, where events are held, you’ll find striking sculptures. Aaron admits it’s an ongoing challenge uncovering unusual and marvellous creations for the gallery. Judging by the current sensational display, it’s fair to say his standards are high.
