Aquaquae creates spaces that reflect their clients’ lifestyle, values, and personality, constructing unique environments that encompass aesthetics, functionality, and comfort. This rural retreat project was born from the desire to erase the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Seeking a simple and cohesive style, the strong connection between client and design team allowed for a smooth and intuitive process. Every space was designed to adapt effortlessly to different moments, seasons, and needs. Rather than impose itself on the landscape, the house embraces it, frames it, and makes it a part of everyday life in Mallorca.
Living with nature
Aquaquae’s project is set in an enclave surrounded by olive groves and native greenery. The home-studio is conceived as an ode to the bond with nature. Expansive windows frame the scenery, weaving it into daily life, while stone, wood, and natural finishes add warmth and character.
The layout is minimalist and open-plan, with each space defined by furniture and subtle shifts in materials or textures. The few elements are carefully selected for their design and personality. Natural light floods the kitchen and dining area. A Boffi kitchen in warm-toned wood is paired with green tile cladding that’s in-keeping with the location. In the centre stands a striking Sciara table by Paola Lenti, composed of lava stone pieces and handcrafted with glass and abstract leaf motifs.
Design in harmony
Outdoors, stone pathways lead to terraces, shaded corners, and an infinity pool. The furniture blends into the vegetation, creating comfortable areas without stealing focus from the setting.
Aquaquae’s Manager, Cecilia Sagrera, says:
“Though compact in size, the layout allows the house to fully open to the outdoors during summer, maximizing natural light and ventilation while embracing the surrounding landscape. In winter, the design ensures warmth and comfort, with carefully framed views that maintain a constant visual link to nature.
“The project’s versatility is what we’re most proud of. It not only enhances the client’s day-to-day experience but also reflects the thoughtful balance between functionality and aesthetic coherence throughout the home.”
Aquaquae has more than two decades of experience offering interior design services, including full-scale renovation and technical execution. Their aim is to carefully consider every detail to create a space that feels personal to the client. “It’s no longer just about how a space looks,” observes Mrs. Sagrera, “but how it feels and adapts to the rhythms of everyday life.”
