Palma welcomes filmmakers and cinema lovers from around the world as Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF) returns for its 15th edition, from 28 October to 4 November 2026. Over eight days, the festival brings international independent cinema to the city alongside industry conversations, masterclasses and opportunities to meet the people behind the films.
Guided by its mission of “Bridging Cultures – Bridging People”, Evolution connects filmmakers, artists, industry professionals and audiences through stories that cross borders.
More than 100 films and a focus on cinematography
The 2026 programme will feature more than 100 films, complemented by industry panels, professional networking and conversations that encourage new collaborations. The annual Cinematography Focus, from 28 to 30 October, explores the technique and artistry of visual storytelling through screenings, roundtables and masterclasses.
Celebrating leading figures in cinema
Three distinguished guests will be honoured at this year’s festival. Oscar-winning director Edward Berger will receive the Evolution Vision Award, while acclaimed German actress Iris Berben will be presented with the Evolution Icon Award. Cinematographer Matthew Libatique will receive the Cinematography Icon Award.
A platform for Balearic talent
Alongside its international programme, EMIFF continues to support filmmakers from the Balearic Islands and emerging voices in cinema. Its Made in Balears initiatives, industry activities and Script Lab & Pitch programme give writers and creators opportunities to develop original projects, build professional relationships and share new stories with audiences.
Cinema across Palma
The festival unfolds across more than seven venues in Palma. The Palau de Congressos hosts the opening, while the historic Teatre Principal provides the setting for the closing gala and awards ceremony. Screenings and events throughout the week make Evolution a meeting point for audiences and the international film community.
