The vision shared between Pepe García-Ruiz of Rambla 9 arquitectura, Roberto Santos of Devin Design Studio and the property owners was this: to respect the old building’s soul while infusing it with new life. A cosmopolitan couple with strong emotional connection to Mallorca, the owners are thrilled with the end result. Their home feels both rooted and renewed; a true reflection both of their character and the spirit of Mallorca.
Historic envelope
One of the most striking features of the S’Aranjassa villa is its solid stone interior walls. By maintaining the honey-hued beauty of the original structure, the architect had an authentic core within which to introduce subtle, modern interventions.
The evocative designs of Porcelanosa Group materials enhance the character of the home while preserving its rustic aesthetic. XTONE natural stone, such as Altissima Selvaggio Green in the kitchen or Altissima Pangea Polished in the staircase area, combines aesthetics, functionality and personalisation, turning each space into a sensory experience.
Since the property is enjoyed seasonally, creating a healthy, comfortable living environment was a vital priority. The walls were carefully sanitised and treated with breathable lime mortars to improve air quality and moisture regulation throughout the home.
Subtle transformation
All finishes and fittings were selected for their tactile quality and durability, in collaboration with Porcelanosa. The furnishings are a blend of high-end design pieces from local and international brands, complemented by special, unique pieces belonging to the owners. Such an approach enriches the atmosphere with personality and distinction, reflecting both local heritage and the owners’ international sensibility. A thoughtful lighting strategy contributes to a relaxed yet refined living experience.
The lasting impression left by Can Teños is of contemporary systems and artisanal elements coexisting seamlessly. The project’s excellence was recognised with the award for “Best Renovation” at the 16th Porcelanosa Awards.
