On 26th November, H&M welcomed guests to the Pre-Opening Party of its renovated new store in Plaza Rey Juan Carlos I. Chanelling the ethos “Same place. Different mind.” the store has been renovated to focus less on product and more on its relationship with the city and its art.
Proud of its Nordic roots, H&M have incorporated a minimalist design while incorporating colour and pattern. The project has been clear all way through: to maintain the natural aesthetics of the building. This has seen the team uncover medieval parts of the building such as stone arches and Mallorcan brick work.
Designed by Open Studio, there are only two other H&M stores that have been given this special treatment, both of which are in Sweden. The opening event saw the store bring two renowned artists, Brianda Fitz- James Stuart and Carlos Asencio to exhibit their artwork, which guests enjoyed to a backdrop of music by DJ Claudia Albons. After the event, the celebration continued at Gerhardt Braun Gallery where dinner was enjoyed.
