Sant Francesc Hotel Singular opened its doors this week to an artisan market circling its cobbled courtyard. Three local businesses showcased their products which people enjoyed perusing over a glass of mulled wine. The stalls included Ca Madò Bet dels Siurells (selling hand-painted Mallorcan pieces), Adriana Meunié (selling beautiful textiles and clothes) and lastly, Santa Catalina‘s very own Oma Project with their range of ceramics and decorative pieces.
In the evening of 28th, the Mallorcan singer Júlia Colom was invited to the market where she performed a series of songs a capella. Standing elegantly in the centre dressed in a red velvet gown, Júlia’s voice profoundly touched those listening. Her performance included traditional Mallorcan songs (including El Cant de la Sibil•la) as well as an acoustic rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ in which she admitted was her “first time playing the guitar in front of a crowd.” It was a beautiful performance that ignited an all-round feeling of warm Christmas cheer.
