A romantic rooftop hideaway in Palma

The late evening sunlight, soft music, mouthwatering sushi & sashimi and that's just for starters.....

A hidden urban gem in the centre of Palma, the rooftop sushi bar and restaurant at the stylish 5-star Sant Francesc boutique hotel is recognised by Condé Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards’ as one of the ‘Best 50 Hotels in the World’ and ‘Top Hotel in Spain and Portugal’ in 2016.

The hotel’s decor is a ‘must see’ – maintaining many of the original features of the 19th-century neo-classical-style mansion.Sant Francesc is considered to be the number 1 boutique hotel on Mallorca, which is no easy achievement considering the amount of new 5 star hotels opening on the island.

The garden restaurant, Quadrat, is one of my personal favourites on the island. But it is the hotel’s panoramic rooftop terrace (200 m²) offering breathtaking views of the Sant Francesc Basilica, and other important landmarks in the city that is simply enchanting.

In the summer months, the roof terrace is transformed into a magical place where you can sip a cocktail or a glass of champagne as you enjoy the gentle rhythms of the music and watch the magnificent sunset over the old town of Palma.

The freshly prepared sushi and sashimi dishes are not only mouth-watering to taste, but the artistic presentation is very appealing to the eye.

Alfonso Lillo is doing a fabulous job as executive chef at Sant Francesc. The young Spaniard gained a wealth of experience working in some of the top restaurants in London including The Fat Duck and head chef for the royal family of Qatari.

I loved the service here too – very friendly and professional carried out by well-trained staff.

Booking in advance is highly recommended at there are very few tables and it is a popular spot for hotel guests as well as enthusiastic outsiders.

Bon profit!
